About Us
Open Arts promotes the inclusion of disabled people in arts activities. Open Arts will support disabled people to express their experiences through the arts.
Open Arts is committed to: valuing creativity, furthering artistic excellence among disabled people and promoting the rights and employment of disabled people within the arts and cultural sector. It will strive to increase the representation of disabled people in decision making in the arts and to provide a profile for disabled people through the medium of the arts. It works across all sections of the community and recognises and values diversity and equality in all its practices.
The organisation is a limited company with charitable status and currently employs three people: a director/administrator, a musical director and a visual arts facilitator. Two people help in the office in a part-time capacity and we have a committee of ten people who direct operations. Self-employed community arts facilitaors are used as required.
Based in Belfast, Open Arts works throughout Northern Ireland with every art form and with people of all abilities.
