Open Arts Choir Mondays 7.00 - 9.00 pm Inclusive best describes the Choir. It features people with disabilites and those without, from every section of the community. The age range is extensive, from seventeen to over seventy. Blind people work alongside people with mental health difficulties and people with learning disabilities. The members are united by their love of song.
Learning Disability Drama Crescent Arts Centre, Mondays 11.00 - 12.00 People from Suffolk SEC in West Belfast meet people from Edgecumbe TRC in East Belfast to improve their dramatic and communication skills, to be creative and to have fun. This is a large and thriving class and an excellent way to start the week!
Monday Players Crescent Arts Centre, Mondays 2.00 - 4.00 People with physical disabilities from all over Belfast and its hinterland converge on the Crescent Arts Centre to work on their thespian skills. They devise sketches, create performances and practice communication through voice and movement. The class is currently going strong with a membership of 15 plus people with 2 talented facilitators.
Painting for Adults Morton Community Centre, Mondays 11.00 - 12.30 From the Island Arts Centre and from individual homes, people come to be creative in the visual arts. It might be collage, it might be fabric work, or it could be painting or pottery: a wide selection of activities is on offer for anyone who attends.
Creative Writing: Elgin Court, Ormeau Rd, Wednesdays, 2-3 p.m. If you’ve always wanted to write but never had the time or the support this is the class for you. Our talented creative writer will lead you into writing, despite yourself. She encourages you to tell stories and then you’re writing them down.
Dance for Dance Lovers Crescent Arts Centre, Thursdays 11.30- 12.30 This dance class is for anyone and everyone who loves to dance, regardless of experience, background or age. It’s fun and great exercise, so come and join the dance.
Visual Arts for VIPs Dee Street Community Centre, Fridays 10.30 - 12.30 The longest running of our classes, this is currently composed of people who are all registered blind. The participants have a lot of experience, they attend exhibitions, but anyone is welcome to come and join them regardless of ability or disability. All that’s really needed is enthusiasm for the various projects.
